Responsibilities and Tasks

As a Bookkeeper Intern, you will be working closely with the Secretariat of the Alliance for Health Promotion, which is based in Versoix. Your main responsibilities and tasks are as follows:

  • Record day to day financial transactions
  • Process accounts receivable and payable
  • Understand ledgers
  • Data entry in excel table (Journal)
  • Extract balance sheet, profit and loss table from Journal
  • Prepare financial reports
  • Check figures and results in order to have them error-free

Competencies Required

  • Proven bookkeeping experience
  • Solid understanding of accounting
  • Proven ability to calculate, manage accounting figures and financial records
  • Data entry skills along with a knack for numbers
  • Good knowledge of English and Excel
  • Attention to details and accuracy of work

Period of internship

6-8 weeks as a part time, starting asap but not later than 15 August 2019 and then, one or two days a month. Our financial year is ending 30 September. Thus, your availability in the first week of October is important.

Web Developer Internship

We are looking for a talented and motivated individual who can help us to revamp our website and improve our digital capacity. This would be a great chance for recent graduates and freelancers to work within a flexible setting and explore their creativity in web-designing.

Responsibilities and Tasks

As a Web Development Intern, you will be working closely with the Secretariat of the Alliance for Health Promotion, which is based in Geneva. Your main responsibilities and tasks are as follows:

  • Create a layout design for an improved version of the current website
  • Website coding in WordPress, page creation and architecture (graphic and navigation styling, image layout, cross-browser testing, optimizing for search and mobile); Social media integration (integrating social media activity on Twitter, Facebook and Linkedin); embedding PDFs
  • Search engine optimization
  • Creating a multilingual website
  • Review Web hosting administration: domain registration, web hosting access and review, database and content management
  • Technical trouble-shooting

Competencies Required

  • Relevant experience in website development
  • Coding in HTML5/CSS/PHP
  • WordPress
  • Design skills
  • Creative and self-motivated
  • Ability to work multi-task and complete tasks within deadlines

COMMUNICATION & FUNDRAISING OFFICER –  unpaid internship / voluntary position

The Alliance for Health Promotion (A4HP) based in Geneva is a coalition of international NGOs, academic institutions and other Civil Society actors from different sectors. It is committed to advocate for the recognition of the value of local knowledge as a community asset and its integration in development programmes. It is a bridge between grass-roots and international initiatives. The Alliance is in Official Relations with the World Health Organization (WHO) and has Consultative Status with ECOSOC.
Tasks 

  • Assist in organizing events around the World Health Assembly and other international meetings
  • Contribute to developing a Communication Strategy and mechanism (branding) which would allow the Alliance its positioning through improving internal and external communication (social media, website development, newsletters)
  • Develop advocacy and a fundraising folder in order to help increase the visibility of the Alliance and help in resource mobilisation.
  • Identify funding sources and calls for proposals in compliance with the Alliance profile and work plan and assist in developing funding proposals accordingly

Competencies required

  • Strong interest in public health and sustainable development issues
  • Excellent communication and writing skills in English and French
  • Good IT skills for using social media and website management
  • Experience in fundraising and project development
  • Good time management and ability to work independently as well as in a multi­disciplinary team

Starting date: As soon as possible

Duration : 3 to ­6 months
Conditions: This is an unpaid internship. Candidates should have a Swiss work permit or a Schengen visa as the Alliance has no capacity to deal with the administrative requirements of Swiss employment. All costs of travel and stay in Geneva as well as medical insurance will have to be covered by the intern.
