Briefings at the World Health Assembly
The 60th World Health Assembly marked the 10th Anniversary of the NGO Advisory Group on Health Promotion. The 10th Briefing held on 16th May 2007 seeded a timely debate to explore the role of NGOs in primary health care and engaged participants to re-examine opportunities for multi-sectoral sustainable action to strengthen health systems. During the 63nd WHA the Alliance is organising a Workshop - on 18 May 2010 in the UN Palais on "Mainstreaming Health Promotion: Developing an effective toolkit to cover the gaps" - See Summary, Project Sheet and presentations.
During the 62nd WHA the Alliance organised a Workshop on 19 May 2009 in the UN Palais on "How can NGOs in alliance maximise the opportunity?"
During the 61st WHA the NGO Advisory Group on Health Promotion held a Planning Meeting on 21 May 2008. The main theme discussed was: Local Wisdom - a missing link in primary health care.

NGO Advisory Group Planning Meeting, 21 May 2008
The NGO Advisory Group on Health Promotion, AGHP held a Planning Meeting in the UN Palais during the 61st World Health Assembly. A Task Force was commissioned to propose a programme focusing on Local Wisdom leading to a Joint NGO presence at the 7th Global Conference on Health Promotion to be held in Nairobi, Kenya in August 2009.

NGO Advisory Group Meeting, 9 March 2007
This Follow-up meeting builds on the work and discussions at the WHO/NGO Workshop in February 2006. At the Workshop many participants expressed interest in starting a wider network on health promotion. The Advisory Group on Health Promotion is proposing some Terms of Reference for discussion at the meeting.
At this meeting the new Coordinator for Health Promotion in WHO, Dr. Gauden Galea will also give an update on recent health promotion projects and how he would like to see NGOs taking an active role. Have a look at the final agenda and report of the meeting.
Workshop, 23 February 2006
| The NGO Advisory Group on Health Promotion and the WHO Department of Chronic Diseases and Health Promotion organised a consultative workshop on health promotion. It focused on promoting the implementation of the Bangkok Charter for Health Promotion in a Globalized World (BCHP) and developing an action framework for NGOs to contribute to the four commitments of the BCHP, particularly by making the promotion of health a key focus of communities and civil society.
